Aflac Dental Insurance
Good Dental Care the Unique and Affordable Way
Aflac Dental Insurance is one of the many life supporting products offered by Aflac.
Aflac is an insurance company that offers accident, dental, life, disability, and vision care insurance, among others, for both individuals and for businesses to provide as benefits to their employees.
Aflac has been in the business for 50 years, and have been committed to ensuring the quality of your insurance coverage.
Aflac is currently operating in the United States and in Japan, where it currently holds a dominant position in the insurance market .Aflac has come to be known as a high quality insurance company, so an Aflac dental insurance coverage is one that can be trusted and relied on.
Aflac is unique and different from other dental insurance plans. It is a dental program that does away with deductibles, so you can enjoy the full benefits of the plan without any deductions.
Aflac also allows you to choose your own dentist with absolutely no restrictions. Aside from that, claims are easily processed.
Aflac offers four types of dental plans for you to choose from.
Your Aflac Plan Selections
Options available under Aflac Plans include:
- Basic Dental Coverage
- Standard Dental Coverage
- Premier Coverage
- Premier Plus Coverage
1. Basic Dental Coverage
The first type is the Basic Aflac Dental Coverage. The basic coverage offers a wellness benefit of $25 per visit. This is payable two times in one year, but each one should be separated from the next visit by at least 150 days. You also get an x-ray benefit of $10 per visit per year. These benefits can be claimed without waiting period, so you can avail of them immediately upon enrollment into the basic coverage plan.
This policy’s maximum coverage per year is $1200 for each person covered by the plan. Several other scheduled benefits are offered, but with waiting periods. This is the most affordable option offered by Aflac dental insurance. Rates, however, differ based on the customer. For example, the Basic coverage is offered to single people at a semi-monthly rate of $11.70 and $25.20 with orthodontics. For husband and wives, the joint rate is $20.60 and $35.35, respectively. Single parents can avail of the plan for $20.45 and $35.20 semi-monthly, respectively. Family rates are $29.45 and $44.20, respectively.
2. Standard Dental Coverage
The next is the Standard Aflac Dental Coverage, which raises the benefits you get from the basic plan a little. This Aflac dental insurance offers a wellness benefit of $50 per visit; same rules apply. The x-ray benefit is raised to $25 per visit per year. The plan’s maximum policy benefit per year is $1400 for every person covered.
The standard base plan is available to single individuals, husbands and wives, single parents, and families at semi-monthly rates of $15.20, $29.60, $29.20, and $44.15, respectively. When paired with an orthodontic coverage, the rates increase to $28.70, $44.35, $43.95, and $58.90, in that order.
3. Premier Coverage
The Premier Aflac Dental Coverage is almost exactly the same as the Standard plan, except for an increase in the maximum coverage yearly. The wellness and x-ray benefits are offered at $50 per visit and $25 per visit per year respectively, but the plan has a maximum of $1600 benefits for every person covered.
The semi-monthly rates for the Premier Coverage base plan is $18.60 for single individuals, $36.45 for married couples, $36.20 for single parents, and $54.45 for families. You can also add an orthodontic coverage by paying $32.10, $51.20, $50.95, or $69.20, respectively.
4. Premier Plus Coverage
But if you want a more extensive coverage, you can go for the Premier Plus Coverage from Aflac. This coverage offers a wellness benefit of $75 per visit, payable twice annually with a gap of 150 days or more between the two visits. There is also an x-ray benefit of $25 per visit per year. Both benefits can be availed of immediately.
The Premier Plus Coverage has the highest policy annual maximum coverage, which is raised to $1800 per individual enrolled in the plan.
Take note that you cannot avail of Aflac insurance online. The company is very particular about the products and services it provides to consumers.
Even if you can request for information online, you will be assigned to an insurance agent who can personally help you with your concerns and questions.
Finally : One members view on the Benefits of Aflac
By Tyler C - Nebraska
I would like to share with this site my views about Aflac Dental. This is one dental insurance plan that you will not read much about because they do not process insurance enrollments online. The website is only a portal where you can get in touch with an insurance agent and set you up with the nearest sales office.
About Aflac and its Personalized Method of Handling Insurance Members
When I personally met the Aflac Dental Plans representative, she provided me with all the information I needed. I was able to ask as many questions I can and I signed up for the policy with a full understanding of the supplemental dental coverage I got for my family. In fact, the handling of the insurance is very personalized because from then on my insurance agent handled all my Aflac dental transactions for as long as I am a member and as far as the supplemental policy she opened for me is concerned.
Actually, my own individual plan is through my employer and I find it very convenient that my monthly insurance premiums are paid in the form of deductions to my salary. I have read of some reviews about Aflac Dental Insurance as totally useless because they make you pay for your dental expenses then file a claim for reimbursement. They claim that it totally defeats the purpose of their insurance.
About Aflac and its System of Handling Claims
As I mentioned earlier, Aflac Dental Insurance does not process insurance enrollees online but instead have you set up an appointment with an insurance expert who will inform you about the procedure aside from the coverage. It means before signing up for the plan, anyone who avails a dental coverage from Aflac already know the procedure of initially paying for the expense then file a claim. So why are they complaining about it?
Maybe, they probably had their insurance through their employers also, then why not opt out and get the kind of insurance they want? I am pretty sure they were informed about the insurance procedures of the company.
One other thing is that any Aflac member enrollee knows that the best and fastest way to file your claim is through your Aflac insurance agent. You do not have to go through it yourself so there is also no reason to complain that it is such a hassle. Your agent knows the necessary requirements, and he or she will ask it from you before filing your claim. This makes the processing faster, so in a matter of four days and through your agent, you will receive your reimbursement without even lifting a finger.
About Aflac and the Amount they Pay
I also disagree with others who said Aflac does not pay much. I am able to claim as much as $1,200, but of course that would depend on how much you paid for. I had several crowns worked on and the dental bill reached around $4,000. I was not expecting much but I would have paid for that amount even if I did not have an insurance to cover it. So I was pleasantly surprised to receive the $1,200 because that was 30% of my dental costs.
I am truly satisfied with Aflac that is why I figured I could enjoy the same savings on the dental expenses incurred by my family, instead of paying for their costs in full. That is why I added a supplemental plan with Aflac to cover the dental health care of my wife and kids.
After sharing these views, I am pretty sure the readers will know that there are different ways dental insurance works. Aflac Dental Plans made this clear even from the start.
